TDP Indonesia Study Tour

TDP Indonesia Study Tour

After handing in proposals to the Bureau of Cooperation, the Office of Vocational Education Commission and the Center of Professional Assessment (Thailand), 5 TDP participants were selected to go on to the next stage of the project - the Study Tour, which was sponsored by CPA (Thailand). The participants spent 7 days in Indonesia, each in different vocational schools, to observe and exchange their points of view with the Master English Teachers (MET) in those schools.

The Study Tour took place from May 3-10, 2009. Upon arrival in Jakarta, the TDP participants were warmly welcomed by the staff and management of the International Testing Center (ITC), the coordinating office for the TDP Project in Indonesia. After an orientation at the ITC office, the participants took a city tour around Jakarta in the evening and attended welcome dinner at The Dome Restaurant.

On the second day of the trip, each participant travelled to their designated city – two to Bandung, two to Malang, and one to Balikpapan. CPA (Thailand) staff also joined with the groups travelling to Bandung and Malang to observe the activities and coordinate.

For five days in the designated cities, each participant had a chance to observe classes, both English and other fields of study, discuss strategies and techniques with English teachers in the schools, and exchange their teaching methodologies with each other.
